Bright World Guardianships offers a programme of care services for international students in UK boarding schools.  This includes organising safeguarding accredited travel arrangements and caring host families for them during the academic year.   The role of the Travel and Accommodation Co-ordinator is to ensure the highest standards of accreditation for host families and taxi drivers are consistently met to fulfil our role as guardians. 

 As guardians to international students in UK boarding schools, an important part of Bright World’s role is recruiting host families to look after them during short holidays. The Travel and Accommodation Manager has responsibility of selecting the right host family for students and assisting in securing all the dates for the year.  The role will involve managing the process of ‘Safer Recruitment’ of families and drivers from initial advertising stage to screening, updating records and allocating host families to students. 

 The successful candidate will join a small team in our Safeguarding Department who have the responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Bright World Guardianships students.  The successful candidate will work closely with our Customer Service team and Local Coordinators, and maintain positive working relationships with host families and taxi companies. 

This is an important, challenging and interesting role which demands the following skills:

  • Planning and organizing - A good eye for detail and the ability to organise data and people alike

  • Personal responsibility - A ‘leave no stone unturned’ attitude, tenacity and determination to get  a job done

  • Administrative skills - Excellent organisation skills, fast and accurate typing for emails and data inputting.  All work is carried out on our web-based system and therefore a knowledge of systems is useful.  

  • Team work - The ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to help colleagues

  • Customer Service – The ability to meet the needs of the customer and adapt to regularly changing requests and circumstances

  • Resilience - The quality of staying calm in a crisis and being able to identify sound solutions to a problem

  • A flexible approach – the role also requires holding a 24/7 emergency phone for short periods on a rota basis to ensure safeguarding of students during the term

  • Safeguarding – a responsibility to apply the company’s safeguarding standards to host families and taxi driver arrangements for international students

Additional details:

The successful candidate should be aware that part of the role involves being Duty Manager on the 24/7 emergency helpline which they take home with them on a rota basis (approximately 3 weeks each year).  They are also needed to attend our Company Conference which involves one overnight stay in Sussex in June each year.  Child Protection Training is a necessary part of the role and will be organised by Bright World.  

The Travel and Accommodation Co-Ordinator will be working with a great team of professionals in our modern offices in the village of Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex.
