Salary - Band D. £17,706 to £21,620 per annum F.T.E. (£15,323 to £18,710 per annum working 39 weeks per year).

Fair Ways is looking to recruit a Learning Support Worker at the their Totton school (Southampton) to provide mentoring support to learners with additional needs, specifically learners with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Fairways School at Totton delivers special education to young people on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) providing them an environment which facilitates a positive re-engagement with learning. The pupil age range is between 11 and 19 and many of them have additional complex needs such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD).

Staff and pupils at Fairways School work hard together to build positive, trusting relationships; In our schools we ensure the education provision is a continuous process and that our pupils are continuously increasing their confidence in their own abilities. Young people are support individually on a one to one or two  to  basis.

The successful candidates will work as Learning Support workers and assist learners with ASC to settle quickly into the routines of school, as well as assist the class Teachers or Therapeutic Learning Practitioners with strategies for supporting learners including participating in the implementation and delivery of each Individual Education Plan.

The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting  young people and adults with Autism Spectrum Condition or with profound and moderate learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to listen and emphasise with learners, along with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships. Knowledge and experience of child protection procedures it is desirable.

Full time and part time applications can be considered. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 4.15pm.

Applicants must have a full driving licence and have access to use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure. The disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.
