School Year Manager – Pastoral
Full Time, Permanent
Pudsey, Leeds (LS28 9HU)
Salary Scale C3 26-28 | £19,929 - £21,264 p.a. (actual salary for term-time + 7 training days)
Crawshaw Academy is a rapidly improving 11-18 Academy School serving the Pudsey area of Leeds that is recognised as a ‘GOOD School’. We have been working hard to make our Academy the most popular secondary school in Pudsey – raising the expectations of our parents and the achievement of our learning by offering the very best student opportunities and experiences in the area.
Our Year Managers undertake a very important frontline role in the school. They ensure each and every student has the tools to flourish by providing pastoral, social and academic support, whilst also creating and delivering inspirational and motivational year group presentations.
This year, working with our Year 9 (aged 13-14) students, we’ll expect you to champion our school values and policies directly with students, as well as directing tutors and teachers to enforce requirements. From uniform issues, through to behavioural challenges, you’ll be on hand to action change which will ultimately bring the school closer to achieving its objectives. Sometimes you’ll encounter students which are hard to reach, especially around behavioural issues, and we’ll need you to know how to deal with various challenging situations effectively, whilst still upholding our school values and projecting professionalism and a supportive approach at all times.
It’s not just our students who will respect your interaction with them. Teachers, tutors, parents/carers and Governors will require your support to make sure the school’s focus on learning and achieving is upheld by developing opportunities and enforcing policies. Part of the role will also involve collecting, analysing and presenting data so that we’re keeping a tangible record of our work, interventions and achievements.
Alongside your strength, determination and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once, as well as handle potentially difficult situations with resilience, you’ll be able to speak to people appropriately and professionally, instilling a sense of calm and asserting presence and authority where required. A proven history of leading and motivating others, particularly young people, is essential and you should also have good computer skills, especially in respect to data and spreadsheets.
At times the role will be challenging and you’ll need to take each and every day as it comes but what we can promise is the support of an exceptional team and the opportunity to really make the role your own. So if you think you can bring your relationship management and life skills to the table and have the passion and ability to enable our students achieve success in all facets of life, then we’d love to hear from you.
